Shamrock's

This little finish is a UFO from a couple years ago. I did the hand embroidery then it hung on the back of a door, waiting for borders.   I gave up the idea of  a fancy pieced border when I stumbled on a leftover piece of this irish print.

RSC16 - Green Sampler Row

I followed Angela's direction for using the easy angle and companion angle rulers for my geese.  I've never had much consistent success with making flying geese.  I'm pretty sure I've tried all the methods and specialty rulers.  These rulers worked very well for me this time.  I made 27 geese and only one lost it's point.

Here is an EQ simulation of the quilt sampler in progress:

I seem to be working toward bed size quilts this year.  I'm not sure the busi-ness of these rows together is working for me.  I may have to insert some separator strips. Then again, I could change my mind before the year is out.

I'm linking up with Angela at Soscrappy.  Visit there to see what everyone else is creating with their green fabrics.  I wonder what the color will be for June?????

RSC16 Green Superscraps

Just catching up on my  scrap challenge projects, using green this month -  first up the scrappy bear paw.  I pulled the previous months blocks out of the box to get a together photo.  So many seams,  I'm still struggling to get the full 14-1/2 inch, there is usually 1/8 inch short in one direction..

Here is some Crayola togetherness and so fun to work on.............

Saved the best for last...............  my modified indian hatchet.  The rows are 84" long, so part of them hang over the  back of the board.

Since I had leftover time and leftover scraps today, I also made up 4 more scrappy churn dash blocks.  I don't know what it is about them that always makes me smile,  is it because they are so scrappy  or because they are churn dashes???   A very productive day, indeed.

Today I'm linking up with Angela of Soscrappy.

and Sunday linking up with Cynthia for Oh Scrap.

and Monday is sharing with Judy at Patchwork TImes.

Baby Quilts

The initial plan was for 2 baby quilts...then I cut the strips wider than planned which made the two quilts too oblong.  So they are now 3.  I had fun playing with different quilting designs.  One has free form wavy lines, one has a circular starting in the center and one has vertical grids going in 4 directions.

This little one is for my 'soon to arrive' great nephew Liam.  It's backed with a blue fleece and has the circular quilting.

The other 2 little quilts are donations.  They are backed with white fleece.  Here is a photo of the back of one --just to show off my fun quilting.

Vintage Blooms - April blocks

The April blocks for my Vintage Bloom sampler are ready.  This time I didn't bring out all the other blocks to photo together.  My triangles aren't keeping their points as well as they did in the beginning either.  LOL  It must be my attitude --- these blocks are getting more tedious, but I'm still intent on the hand  embroidery.  Each month calls for 2 new blocks, I am duplicating one extra block each month so I will have a 30-block setting at the end of the year.

Once my May blocks are ready,  I will have reached the half-way point with this quilt top.  Phew.  If you don't want to make it with the traditional triangle piecing method, Gay has also provided a alternate version using the paper piecing method.  You can still get all the patterns for this project free at  http://sentimentalstitches.net/free-stuff/block-of-the-month-quilt-designs/vintage-blooms/.
